Hotel Kimpton Las Mercedes
Feel the timeless allure of Kimpton Las Mercedes, where you can feel the fusion of modern luxury with historic charm.
Kimpton’s Santo Domingo offering, Las Mercedes, captures the vibrant post-colonial spirit that still animates the streets of old Santo Domingo and the 16th-century edifice it occupies. A pair of bars anchor the public spaces — one in the courtyard garden under a canopy of oak and mango, the other slinging poolside cocktails on the rooftop. Rooms come in several style palettes, reflecting colonial heritage and contemporary sensibilities, with platform beds and tropical art to tie it all together.
Experiencing the historic charm of the Colonial City, founded in 1502, this hotel boasts a legacy of tradition and heritage. Scenes from The Godfather were filmed on Las Mercedes Street and on Hostos Street, a parallel street.
This Colonial City Hotel is a relaxing escape with it’s lush gardens and peaceful patios. Surrounded by verdant palm trees and serene paintings of birds in every room, the hotel offers a sanctuary of natural beauty.
This 130-room hotel project, combining respect for historical heritage with contemporary architecture, featuring unique design that revives the value of colonial architecture, was developed by Estudio Moneo Brock. At the heart of the project is the central courtyard, part of the original construction, which was carefully preserved during renovation. Its imposing vegetation allows guests to connect with nature and colonial-era architecture. Around this vital area, the corridors leading to the rooms allow natural light, cross ventilation, and create a serene, tropical atmosphere.
Dovain’s Studio H-Chair designed by Sergio Prieto was introduced in the Hotel's restaurant area for its unmistakable contemporary style, sublime elegance, and exceptional comfort. Being one of the designer's most acclaimed pieces, it was entirely designed around the lumbar support that was created from the start to embrace and welcome those who sit, preparing the body for a moment of relaxation and unwinding. Sergio’s inspiration for this art piece chair stems from the desire for a supportive and comforting piece that stands as a constant presence throughout life’s moments. It serves as a memory piece, a tribute to Sergio’s own grandmother, Hortencia whose embrace lives forever in the designer's memory and now spreads throughout the world through his chairs.
